Provincetown

The town is 45 miles (72 km) north (by road) from Barnstable, Hyannis, Massachusetts and 62 miles (100 km) by road to the Sagamore Bridge, which spans the Cape Cod Canal and connects Cape Cod to the mainland. Provincetown is 45 miles (72 km) east by southeast from Boston by air or sea, and 115 miles (185 km) by road.

The water surrounding Provincetown has the effect of moderating temperatures, such that the entire town is included in USDA plant hardiness zone 7a, which indicates an average annual extreme minimum temperature (1976–2005) of between 0 and 5 °F (−17.8 and −15.0 °C).[20] The water also has the effect of delaying the onset of the seasons, by keeping spring temperatures cooler and fall temperatures warmer than the rest of the state.

n the tip of Cape Cod, Provincetown has always been a haven for prominent artists, writers, and bohemians. The town is everything you’d expect in a seaside resort: sun-bleached streets filled with charming shops and seafood restaurants, as well as theaters, art galleries, and cabarets. Provincetown is surrounded by water and is a mecca for those who enjoy sunbathing, swimming, sailing, dune walking, and even whale watching.
