Hoffman Estates\u00a0is a\u00a0village<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0Illinois<\/a>,\u00a0United States<\/a>. The village is located primarily in\u00a0Cook County<\/a>, with a small section in\u00a0Kane County<\/a>. It is a\u00a0suburb<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0Chicago<\/a>. As of the\u00a02010 census<\/a>, the population was 51,895, <\/sup>and as of 2019 the estimated population was 50,932.<\/span><\/p>\n

The village now serves as the headquarters for\u00a0Sears<\/a>\u00a0and the American headquarters for\u00a0Mori Seiki<\/a>. The village owns\u00a0Now Arena<\/a>, home of the\u00a0Windy City Bulls<\/a>\u00a0of the\u00a0NBA G League<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2009, the village hosted the\u00a0Heartland International Tattoo<\/a>, one of the largest music and dance festivals of its kind in the\u00a0Midwest<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Once the\u00a0Northwest Tollway<\/a>\u00a0opened, Schaumburg Township became more attractive to Chicago commuters. In the early 1960s, land annexations north of the tollway and in other neighboring regions more than doubled Hoffman Estates’s land area.<\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n

The opening of the\u00a0Woodfield Mall<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0Schaumburg<\/a>\u00a0to the east in 1971 made the area a major business center. An attempt to change the name of the village to East Barrington, among other names, was made in the early 1980s but failed upon a residential vote.<\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n

In 2011, the Village of Hoffman Estates took over ownership of the\u00a0Now Arena<\/a>.<\/sup>\u00a0On June 23, 2020, the Village of Hoffman Estates approved an $11.5 million deal to rename the Sears Centre Arena to the „NOW Arena.“<\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n

In the fall of 2016, papers and artifacts from\u00a0President Barack Obama<\/a>‘s administration began to arrive in town, where they are being stored in a building on Golf Road. The site is their temporary home while construction takes place on the\u00a0Barack Obama Presidential Center<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0Jackson Park<\/a>, Chicago, and is not open to the public.<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
