Lynn Planetarium, the only\u00a0planetarium\u00a0in the Charlotte area.<sup id=\"cite_ref-18\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The\u00a0Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden\u00a0is located just southeast of the city in\u00a0Belmont\u00a0on\u00a0.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The\u00a0U.S. National Whitewater Center\u00a0(on the\u00a0Catawba River) is located east of the city in neighboring\u00a0Mecklenburg County.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Crowders Mountain State Park\u00a0is located west of the city, near\u00a0Kings Mountain. The park offers a number of hiking trails, as well as campgrounds, picnic areas, rock climbing, and fishing.<sup id=\"cite_ref-19\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The\u00a0Gastonia Grizzlies\u00a0play baseball at\u00a0Sims Legion Park. The team is part of the\u00a0Coastal Plain League\u00a0(CPL) featuring players at the collegiate level.
