Creede is located on the Silver Thread Scenic Byway (State Hwy 149) at an elevation of 8,854 feet in some of the most pristine wilderness area’s of the state. The main routes into the area are U.S. Highways 50, 160, and 285.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nearest commercial airports are Alamosa, Colorado Springs, Denver International, and Pueblo. Commercial airlines serve nearby Alamosa from Denver International with several flights daily.<\/span><\/p>\n

The historic City of Creede is the Statutory Town that is the county seat and the only incorporated municipality in Mineral County, Colorado, United States.<\/span><\/p>\n

This historic mining town offers contemporary boutiques for plenty of shopping, but maintains its traditional character through remembrance of its roots. Underground Mining Museum and old mining tours hint at older times, yet you can still step back into the present by walking down Main Street, and into one of our unique and beautiful art galleries.<\/span><\/p>\n

Creede will be as busy or as quiet as you make it. Take the chance to retreat from the city and into the mountain calm, or follow the lights of the Creede Repertory Theatre, and see a play by a company named „one of the top 10 places to see the lights way off Broadway“.<\/span><\/p>\n

Every summer, the town hosts the Creede Repertory Festival, which lasts most of the season and features a mix of classical and new productions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Because it’s situated at the headwaters of the San Juan and Rio Grande rivers, there’s plenty of good fishing here, as well as rafting, hiking and mountain biking.<\/span><\/p>\n

Be sure to explore at least one of the area’s scenic byways \u2014 like the Silver Thread Scenic and Historic Byway \u2014 and take time to stop at the fascinating formations found at Wheeler Geologic Area south of town.<\/span><\/p>\n
