SEVERNA TERITORIJA

zauzima jednu šestinu ukupne površine Australije. Teritorija ima oko 230000 stanovnika sa oko 40000 ljudi koji žive u udaljenim oblastima. Većina stanovnika živi u Darvinu, Palmerstonu ili u Alis Springs-u. Darvin je glavni grad ove države.

Svaki region ove države raspolaže velikim prirodnim bogatstvima i nacionalnim parkovima. Cela teritorija je podeljena na dva dela: Top End i Red Centre.

Prva nasevljavanja ove teritorije desila su se pre oko 50000 godina što čini ovu teritoriju jednom od najstarije naseljavanih na svetu. Kao i sve ostale države Australije, Aboridžini su bili ti koji su prvi nastanili ovu teritoriju. Širok spektar kulture i tradicije Aboridžina i dalje je prisutan u kulturi ovog podneblja. Ekonomija ove regije se pretežno sastoji u rudarstvu, međutim i turizam ima svog udela u privredi ovog područja posebno sa nacionalnim parkovima Kakadu i Uluru-Kata Tjuta.

DARVIN

je glavni grad Severne terotorije sa populacijom od oko 130000 stanovnika. On je najmanji i najseverniji grad od svih australijskih gradova. Nalazi se na Timorskom moru. Ovaj grad, kao i ostali gradovi Australije, ima kosmopolitsku kulturu sa stanovništvom koje čini više od 60% različitih nacionalnosti. Multikulturalni miks grada je posebno naglašen sa svojim brojnim festivalima i nedeljnim pijacama hrane i zanata. U poslovnim krugovima i industriji, Darvin je poznat kao kapija sa jugoistočnom Azijom.

NORTHERN TERRITORY
