TASMANIJA

Tasmanija je najmanja država u Australiji po veličini i broju stanovnika. Smeštena je 240 kilometara jugoistočno od kopna Australije a čine ga ostrva Tasmanija i ostalih 300 ostrva u okolini. Ima pola miliona stanovnika.

Ova zemlja je bogata prirodnim resursima i lepotama, retkim vrstama životinja, planinama i prelepim pejzažima. Čak 40% teritorije Tasmanije nalazi se u rezervatima prirode i nacionalnim parkovima.

Tasmanija ima više od 2.000 kilometara pešaćkih staza i 18 nacionalnih parkova. Glavni grad je Hobart.

Tasmaniju su prvi put naselili tasmanski Aboridžini, a dokazi o tome datiraju od pre oko 35.000 godina. Ostrvo je pripojeno kopnu Australije do kraja poslednjeg ledenog doba pre nekih 10.000 godina. Nakon toga, sa porastom nivoa mora, Tasmanija se odvojila od kopna Australije. Holandski istraživač Abel Tasma prvi je video ovu teritoriju 1642. godine. Nazvao je ovu teritoriju po guverneru holandske Istočne Indije – zemlji Van Dimen.

Početkom 19. veka Tasmanija je bila pod britanskom vlašću i postala je kaznena teritorija. Njeni prvi stanovnici uglavnom su bili osuđenici i njihovi čuvari. 1901. godine zvanično se odvojio od kolonije i formirao državu Australiju zajedno sa još 5 australijskih država.

Poljoprivreda je od ključne važnosti za Tasmaniju. Zbog ogromnog prirodnog bogatstva razvijen je i turizam.

HOBART

je glavni i najmnogoljudniji grad australijske teritorije Tasmanije. Osnovan je 1804. godine kao kaznena kolonija Velike Britanije. Hobart je drugi najstariji grad u Australiji odmah nakon Sidneja i danas ima nešto više od 200.000 stanovnika. Nalazi se na reci Dervent a blizu nje je planina Velington. Grad je finansijski i administrativni centar Tasmanije, a njegova luka služi kao dom australijskih i francuskih antarktičkih misija. Hobart je na listi 10 gradova na svetu koje morate posetiti prema dokumentarnom filmu „Usamljena planeta“. Ovaj industrijski grad sigurno može pronaći ponešto za svakoga.

Najveće znamenitosti grada su: Mona, Velington park, Theater Royal, Port Arthur, Salamanca Place, itd.

Hobart je regionalni centar sa velikim brojem zaposlenih u sledećim industrijama: Javna uprava i bezbednost, Socijalna pomoć, Trgovina, Obrazovanje i obuka, stručne, nučne i tehničke službe.

Zanimljivosti

  • Grad je dobio ime po Robertu Hobartu, britanskom državnom sekretaru za rat i kolonije  u vreme osnivanja.
  • Kraljevsko pozorište u Hobartu je najstarije australijsko pozorište koje još uvek radi.
  • Tasmanija, a samim tim i Hobart, imaju najčistiji vazduh na svetu a kiša je toliko čista da određene količine nose australijski olimpijski sportisti koji se takmiče u inostranstvu.
  • Posle Sidneja, Hobart je drugi najstariji grad u Australiji.
  • Francuska i australijska misija na Antarktiku imaju sedište u Hobartu.

TASMANIA

Tasmania is the smallest country in Australia in terms of size and population. It is located 240 kilometers southeast of the mainland of Australia and is composed of the islands of Tasmania and the other 300 islands in the vicinity. It has a population of half a million inhabitants.

This country is rich in natural resources and beauties, rare species of animals, mountains and beautiful landscapes. As much as 40% of Tasmania’s territory is located in nature reserves and national parks.

Tasmania has more than 2,000 kilometers of hiking trails and 18 national parks. The capital is Hobart.

Tasmania was first inhabited by Tasmanian Aborigines, and evidence of this dates back some 35,000 years. The island was annexed to the mainland of Australia by the end of the last ice age some 10,000 years ago. After that, with rising sea levels, Tasmania separated from the mainland of Australia. The Dutch explorer Abel Tasma was the first to see this territory in 1642. He named this territory after the governor of the Dutch East Indies – the land of Van Dimen.

At the beginning of the 19th century, Tasmania was under British rule and became a penal territory. Its first inhabitants were mostly convicts and their guards. In 1901, it officially separated from the colony and formed the state of Australia together with 5 other Australian states.

Agriculture is essential in Tasmania. Due to the huge natural wealth, tourism is also developed.

HOBART

is the capital and most populous city of the Australian territory of Tasmania. It was founded in 1804 as a penal colony of Great Britain. Hobart is the second oldest city in Australia right after Sydney and today has just over 200,000 inhabitants. It is located on the Dervent River and near it is Mount Wellington. The city is the financial and administrative center of Tasmania, and its port serves as the home of the Australian and French Antarctic missions. Hobart is on the list of 10 cities in the world that you must visit according to the documentary „Lonely Planet“. This city by industry can certainly find something for everyone.

The biggest sights of the city are: Mona, Wellington Park, Theater Royal, Port Arthur, Salamanca Place, etc.

Hobart is a regional center with a large number of employees in the following industries: Public administration and security, health and social assistance, trade, education and training, professional, scientific and technical services.
