Ocean View

The town of Ocean View is located one mile west from Bethany Beach at the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River Bay. Part of a 500-acre tract of land known as “Middlesex,” Ocean View was granted to Matthew Scarborough by Lord Baltimore and originally known as Hall’s Store. Legend tells that nineteenth century residents could see the ocean from to the second floors of their homes, so they changed the town’s name to… Ocean View.

The Town sponsors a few annual events including the summertime Concerts in the Park, the annual Christmas time Carols and the Ocean View Homecoming and the Town also has an active Historical Society with over 100 members. Adjacent to Ocean View is the Town of Millville where residents have access to services, grocery stores and restaurants, while neighboring Bethany Beach offers its Boardwalk strolling and the ocean.
