Alaska
Juneau is the capital city of Alaska. The United States purchased Alaska from the Russian Empire on March 30, 1867, for 7.2 million U.S. dollars. Alaska has nearly 34,000 miles of tidal shoreline. Many active volcanoes are found in the Aleutians and in coastal regions. Alaska has more than three million lakes. And glacier ice covers some 16,000 square miles. With over 100,000 glaciers, Alaska has half of all in the world. Mountains: Of the 20 highest peaks in the United States, 17 are in Alaska. So, Alaska is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, if you enjoy the outdoors, this place is for you. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska http://alaska.gov/visitorHome.html
Skagway
Skagway, with a population of just around 1,000, is located at the northernmost point of the Inside Passage in Southeast Alaska, 103 air miles north of Juneau and 110 road miles south of Whitehorse, Yukon. Skagway rarely disappoints visitors. A seven-block corridor along Broadway features historic false-front shops and restaurants, wooden sidewalks, locals in period costumes and restored buildings. Today Skagway survives almost entirely on tourism, as bus tours and more than 400 cruise ships a year turn this small town into a boomtown again every summer. Up to five ships a day stop here and, on the busiest days, more than 8,000 visitors — 10 times the town's resident population — march off the ships and turn Broadway Avenue into a modern-day version of the Klondike Gold Rush.
