Ottawa

Ottawa is a city in, and the county seat of, Franklin County, Kansas, United States. Kansas downtown is a thriving district of restaurants, shopping, and businesses. Quality living & all the things that go into it has always been the mainstay of Ottawa, from its founding to the present. Good public facilites, schools, commerce and culture are behind the town’s success of the past „150 YEARS“.

Ottawa and Franklin County have many great parks, trails and other recreational opportunities! The Prairie Spirit Rail Trail State Park, is a 51-mile rail trail and the first converted rail to trail in Kansas. It is designated a state park. From Ottawa to Iola and with a new extension into Humboldt, bikers and walkers can view wildlife, rolling hills and fertile farm land. Special-use permits can be obtained for group night rides or special events from the trail manager.

The Flint Hills represent one of the last remaining tallgrass prairie ecosystems in the world. It is home to abundant prairie plant and wildlife species, spectacular views, national historic sites and a diverse set of recreational areas. Franklin County is home to more than 15 community parks. They are home to zero-depth entry swimming pools, baseball diamonds, horse shoe pits, tennis and basketball courts, disc golf courses and other sport facilities. In addition to sports activities, there is also playground equipment for children of all ages.
