Saco

Saco is a city in York County, Maine, United States.

Saco sees much tourism during summer months, due to its amusement parks, Ferry Beach State Park, and proximity to Old Orchard Beach.

The City of Saco, located at Maine’s south coast gateway, has been praised for retaining its small city character and high quality of life. Traditionally a mill city, Saco was a leader of textile manufacturing in the industrial age. Thanks to diversification of the city’s economy and the hard work of its citizens, Saco is thriving once again. To small entrepreneurs, big corporations, and business owners of all sorts, Saco is widely appreciated for its quality labor force, variety and flexibility of affordable sites for business growth, and a decidedly pro-business attitude.

Saco is ideally situated less 20 minutes south of the major population center of Greater Portland, allowing short, easy commutes. Boston is ninety minutes away by car. The new Saco Transportation Center serves five daily Amtrak Downeaster runs to Portland and Boston, as well as some cities and towns in between.

The City of Saco’s handsome and historic Main Street is lined with a wide variety of businesses, ranging from medical offices to boutiques, from legal firms to restaurants. A Main Street Maine Community, Saco is proud of its  Main Street/Pepperell Square shopping area, promoted by Saco Main Street through a number of annual festivals and community events.
